The Performance Lab is a series of exploratory workshops and informal tutorials conducted by The Riverina Young Peoples Theatre for Wagga Youth leading up to and as part of Waggas new Youth Festival. The workshops/tutorials will be in a laboratory format, with an emphasis on experimentation, self-determination and group consensus. The art-form areas that will be included are writing for performance and performance and special workshops will be devoted to learning how to use digital video and projections for the performance. Current RYPT students who have shown particular talent or interest will be invited to participate, as well as other Wagga Youth.The group that is formed by this process will develop a theatre performance devised by and relevant to young people. The group will then, in conjunction with RYPT Tutors, Semester One RYPT classes and other festival elements (hip-hop, digital film etc.) utilise this knowledge and their artistic leadership to facilitate a public showcase at The Wagga Playhouse and surrounds called "The Quest". This public performance will be the culmination of the Wagga Youth Festival art theatre and music Workshops.

A two hour workshop audition was conducted on Sunday the 16th for the Perfromance LAB. Over 20 young people attended and the level of talent and enthusiasm was very high. This made the selection process very difficult due to the limit on places we are able to offer. Thanks to everyone who attended and the following people have been selected to be part of RYPT's inaugeral Performance LAB.
